"The Dakini are the mightiest of the three tribes we must face. I fear that if they are not stopped they will unleash a terrible magic upon us."

Setting
You share a very large island with the Dakini who have a large, fully developed base from the start. The Matak and Chumara are on their own smaller islands which both have Stone Heads containing the Volcano spell. Fog of War covers this world. The Dakini base lies southeast of your base, the Matak island lies west of your base, and the Chumara island lies southwest of your base. A Stone Head containing the Armageddon spell is present between your base and the Dakini base, but the Dakini heavily defend it from the start with Guard Towers and patrolling units.

| Volcano
| align="center" | 6
|}

Strategy
Convert some wildmen and build a Guard Tower some distance east of your Reincarnation Site so that you can quickly start building buildings around it. Use the space around your Reincarnation Site as well to get a few huts constructed. You will need to get warriors and preachers quickly to counter any early enemy attacks and expand your base carefully since the wood supply is limited. It may be best to avoid using the peninsula across of the river that lies east of your base despite the high wood supply there because the Dakini regularly patrol it and sometimes choose to attack from that direction. Have your Shaman stay in a Guard Tower and build a few extra Guard Towers around your base and staff them with preachers and firewarriors for defense. As time goes on keep training more units. You should get a Balloon Hut up at some point as well since your Shaman will prove even more useful riding around in a balloon. Do not go anywhere near the Dakini until you are ready to attack.

The enemy tribes will all regularly attack you by boat. However, they will also attack by land. The Matak and Chumara manage this by casting Landbridge west of your Reincarnation Site and south of your base respectively from their islands. The Matak and Chumara also head to attack the Dakini occasionally.

After some time, the Dakini will begin worshipping the Armageddon Stone Head. Unlike the level Middle Ground, they will not be interrupted by the other tribes, so it will be up to you to stop them from getting the spell. To prepare for their attempt to steal the spell, you should eliminate the Guard Towers protecting them early on by sending your Shaman to cast Tornado on them from a balloon (make sure to eliminate any nearby firewarriors first though). You then have two options. You can build a large base and train all your followers into warriors and firewarriors and delay the Dakini from getting the spell until you're ready or you can focus on stealing the spell for yourself and using it whenever you are ready. Stealing the spell can be challenging due to the strong Dakini protection. When the Dakini start worshipping, send invisible followers to begin praying and keep the Dakini troops from worshipping the Stone Head themselves using your spells. Swamp is useful here but it will not slow them down for long.

Alternative Strategy (easier)
Convert a few wildmen and build a few huts to gain some mana, then charge Landbridge as soon as you can. Meanwhile, build a temple and train 4-5 preachers.

As quickly as you can, take a group of preachers and braves with your Shaman and landbridge across to the island west of your Reincarnation Site. It should be fairly easy to finish off the Matak who are settled there. Build a Firewarrior Training Hut and a Balloon Hut on the Matak base and expand on their island to charge your spells. While working on this, train a force of about 10 warriors and preachers or so while continuing to charge Landbridge until you have a second use of it and worship the Stone Head on your new island.

Landbridge to the Chumara island to the southeast. You will need to be right at the edge of your island as close as possible to the Chumara island to accomplish this. Have your Landbridge spell selected and click on the closest possible spot where it allows you to cast the spell to pull this off. Carefully rush towards the Chumara base and cast Volcano in a decent spot. After the lava stops flowing send your small army to finish the job and pray at the Stone Head on the Chumara island.

Continue developing your base and make sure to keep some trained units around for defense. The Dakini will not attack you very often while you're on the Matak island but they can attack, so be prepared for them. When your population is quite high, train everyone into warriors and preachers and let the Dakini steal the Armageddon spell. Keep killing their worshippers if it looks like they will get it before you are ready. Also, before they manage to finish praying at the Stone Head use your second Volcano and a few other powerful spells on their base to lower their population. By the time they cast the spell, they should have no chance and will provide you with an easy victory.

Setting
This level is set up as a large landmass and is rather complicated to explain. Each tribe (including your own) starts with a large landmass with three paths leading to other large landmasses. The central paths lead to the central Stone Head that is positioned on top of a hill that looks like a large staircase from all directions. The side paths lead to other enemy bases directly (these can all be accessed from the centre as well). Your base is positioned on the northwest landmass with the Dakini base to the east, the Matak base to the south and the Chumara base to the southeast. You must pass by the Stone Head for the most direct path to the Chumara base. All three enemy tribes start off with developed bases but will continue to build more buildings. You start off with a few completed huts as well as all your training huts complete. There are plenty of wildmen and trees on this map, especially on the paths leading to other areas.

| Armageddon
| align="center" | 6
|}

Strategy
To start off, build as many huts as you can early on and convert as many wildmen as possible. Make sure to train at least ten warriors, preachers and firewarriors for defense and consider training some more as the level progresses depending on how much you need them.

Position your trained units to patrol in the southeast portion of your base so that they can run over to any of the three paths to deal with enemy attacks. Your Shaman should be placed in a Guard Tower on the hill overlooking the central path for extended spell range. Later on, you should build a Balloon Hut for her to be transported in and place a firewarrior in her Guard Tower instead. Charge Erode early in order to cut off enemy access by land from all three paths as soon as you can. Do not worry about the Stone Head, no tribe will take control of it long enough to get the spell for a long while. If anyone does, make sure to kill the worshippers before they get the spell.

All enemy tribes will use the paths to attack by land in this level, either to attack an enemy base or to fight over the central Stone Head containing the Armageddon spell. You will be attacked early so make sure you have a defense set up early. The Matak will also build a Boat Hut to attack by boat and the Chumara will build a Balloon Hut to attack by balloon. Make it a priority to get your Shaman in a balloon to fly over and destroy these buildings before the enemy can make use of them. If you do this and also manage to erode the three paths, you can eventually stop the enemy from attacking your base.

Once the enemy are unable to attack you at all, keep working on increasing your population by building as many huts as possible. You can use your Shaman and her devastating spells to destroy the tribes one by one or cut off all access to the central Stone Head with more Erode spells and send some followers to get the Armageddon spell. If you plan to use the Armageddon spell, train all your followers into equal numbers of warriors and firewarriors (preachers and braves aren't very useful here) and cast the spell anywhere. With a large population of these trained units it should be easy to finish the enemy tribes.

Setting
All four tribes are located on an open desert land with a few small rivers. A small island with a Stone Head containing the Angel of Death spell stands in the middle of the ocean. You start in an area with few trees west of a ridge which separates your base from the Matak tribe. North of the Matak settlement is a Stone Head containing an infinite number of Bloodlust spell uses. West of your base is a Stone Head. There is a small plateau in the way but you can go around it to reach the Stone Head. The Chumara base lies to the southwest while the Dakini base lies to the northwest.
| Angel of Death
| align="center" | 6
|-
|}

Strategy
This level can be very challenging due to three enemy tribes attacking you frequently in strong numbers, and the low availability of trees near your base. All three enemy tribes regularly fight over the Stone Head north of the Matak base which grants an infinite number of Bloodlust spell uses, but none of the tribes actually use the spell. There are certain things you should do to make your life easier in this level.

To start off, convert nearby wildmen quickly and build a few huts, a Warrior Training Hut and Temple. You need to train a couple of warriors and preachers fast to counter early attacks. Be very careful with your wood supply, it is very small and you will run out early if you don't use it wisely. Try to avoid fully chopping down trees to save you building time. You need a fully functional and well protected base as soon as possible to survive. Get a Firewarrior Training Hut up later when you can.

All enemy tribes will attack you often with their Shaman and some followers. The Shaman should be a priority to destroy since she can easily do the most damage. Get used to seeing Magical Shield being used and be able to counter it by fighting the enemy in hand-to-hand combat and by avoiding to hit them with spells directly. The Dakini will attack you by land from the northwest. The Chumara attack from the southwest either by land or with balloons. The Matak will attack from the east, either with balloons or by eroding the ridge separating your bases with Erode to attack by land.

For defense, you can try a few things.

Firstly, make sure that the Matak cannot attack by land by using Landbridge to repair the ridge to the east whenever they erode it. Wall off land access to the west through a combination of Landbridge and Flatten. You can do this faster by taking advantage of the northwest plateau controlled by the Dakini, but this will allow them to have access to your base and will therefore only prevent Chumara land attacks. It is far more effective to use Flatten to stretch the ridge that you are creating to the sea without having to give the Dakini access. Since the Dakini only ever seem to attack by land you can prevent all attacks from them completely by doing this.

Secondly, 20-30 warriors and about half as many preachers to patrol your base and deal with any enemies that get through.

Thirdly, build some Guard Towers at the western and eastern edges of your base and staff them with firewarriors to counter enemy balloon invasions. In case enemy troops reach the heart of your base by balloon, house some extra firewarriors in huts around your base to deal with them. Don't forget that it only takes two firewarrior blasts to knock an enemy Shaman out of her balloon.

Next, grab the Angel of Death spell from the Stone Head on the island and consider going for the Bloodlust spell from the other Stone Heads. It is an extremely useful spell but it will require some work setting up a defense for the Stone Head north of the Matak base, which is often under attack by enemy forces.

When your base is developed and your defenses are set up, you should prepare for an attack. You can try to attack by balloon or by land.

Attacking by balloon can be a lot easier but requires you to build a Balloon Hut or to steal enemy balloons. For a balloon invasion you will need some firewarriors, your Shaman, and some uses of Magical Shield. The tactic you want to follow is to soften up an enemy tribe with your Shaman's spells, then send your firewarriors in to finish the job. The Chumara and Matak bases are huge and will require a lot of work to destroy, so make sure to have a lot of mana before attempting an attack.

Attacking by land can be a lot harder than by balloon since you must deal with the full wrath of enemy forces, but you have a wider variety of units to help you. You will still definitely need your Shaman to soften them up as much as possible. The bloodlust spell is even more important in land attacks than in balloon attacks to give you the edge that you need (with balloons it helps a lot already that your firewarriors with Magical Shield are practically invincible). For a land attack you will need a very big army; do not settle for a small contingent of troops, especially against the Matak and Chumara.

Focus on one tribe at a time. If you blocked off all land access, it is good to attack the Matak first since they are closest. The Chumara should come next since both they and the Matak can attack you by balloon. The Dakini should be left for last simply because they cannot do anything to you anymore. If you did not block off land access focus on the Dakini first because they tend to be the most aggressive. Use the Angel of Death wherever it seems needed most, but keep in mind that large numbers of firewarriors will render it useless pretty quickly. Keep focused on one tribe at a time and victory will be yours.

Alternative Strategy
This strategy involves destroying the Matak very quickly in order to prevent having to deal with three enemy tribes.

Instead of the usual start, immediately build a Firewarrior Training Hut and a Balloon Hut. Convert some wildmen and train about nine firewarriors while building five balloons. Your balloons should hold your Shaman and the firewarriors. Once all this is ready immediately attack the Matak base. It should fall quickly since they do not have many units left, and the Matak Shaman is your only danger. Eliminate her quickly and target all enemy followers and undamaged huts and the Matak should fall fast.

Transport all remaining braves to where the Matak settlement was and build a base here. You can stay where you started off, but you will get attacked a lot less frequently where the Matak base was. Build a base quickly and train some warriors and preachers for defense. Keep building up and use your units and Shaman's spells to counter enemy attacks. The Chumara and Dakini will be focused on each other for quite a while so you have a lot of time to build up, but nevertheless, do not waste any time since you were slowed down in base construction at the beginning of the level.

Once you have established a large base and have charged your spells you can attack the other enemy tribes by land or balloon. Use the Stone Heads to your advantage if you wish and finish off your enemies to complete the level.
"I sense a spell hidden somewhere in this desert land that will increase the strength of my Followers. I must find it."

|-
|}

Thirdly, build some Guard Towerss at the western and eastern edges of your base and staff them with firewarriors to counter enemy balloon invasions.

Your followers are settled on a small, circular island with a hill in the centre that is covered in trees. Your base holds all the training huts, a few regular huts and a boat hut. West of your base is a long island where the Chumara are settled. Three firewarriors in Guard Towers protect the east coast. On the coast, many Chumara warriors supported by preachers prevent access to the west. West of the patrollers is the prison that holds your Shaman, surrounded by three more Guard Towers with firewarriors. West of the prison is a cliff that overlooks the fully constructed Chumara settlement which is cramped in a small area with a ridge preventing access from all sides but the east.

Strategy
This level can be challenging at first if you do not come up with a quick and effective strategy for liberating the Shaman. The following strategy shows one effective way of doing this.

Send a few braves to build four boats. Meanwhile, train ten warriors and ten preachers. When your boats are finished load your trained units inside so that each boat holds five followers.

Send all boats to land on the eastern shore, ignoring the eastern Guard Towers. Use your preachers and warriors to claim the beach and send your warriors to kill the firewarriors surrounding the prison. Once all this is done destroy the prison and send your Shaman to pray at the Obelisk that appears west of where the prison was.

The Obelisk grants your Shaman a Volcano spell, which you can use from the cliff overlooking the Chumara base to destroy it. Find any remaining followers and eliminate them (without losing your Shaman) and victory will be yours.

Trivia
*There is a small mistake in the in-game starting speech. 'Dakini' should have been 'Chumara'.
*This is the third level in Populous that has a timed objective.
*This is the only level in Populous to have a prison on it.
|-
|}

Strategy
Throughout this level, you need to be prepared for attacks by boat from the Chumara, whose Shaman brings spies, preachers, warriors and firewarriors often with Magical Shield. The Matak periodically flatten the land from above to destroy your buildings and steal your land. The Dakini Shaman comes with a small raiding party through the rugged hills from time to time and often sends spies to damage your base. Later, the Dakini send a few balloons.

This is a hard level to defend on, and you have to be prepared for losses, especially since the Dakini Shaman will try to get close enough to cast Firestorm on your buildings. If she's out of mana, she'll try Lightning on your Shaman instead.

To start off on this level, get some huts up quickly and convert as many wildmen as you can. Get a couple of warriors and preachers trained as quickly as possible: once the Chumara attack with Magical Shield protecting their followers you can't rely as much on firewarriors or your Shaman as you can on your other followers. Despite this, remember to get firewarriors later on as well since they will still prove quite useful.

Since you have little land to build on, make sure that charging Landbridge is a priority throughout this level. You can use it to flatten the hilly land to the west or to steal some of the Matak land from their plateau (remember they do the same to you). Landbridge requires less mana than Flatten so if a land war starts you should be able to win it.

When it comes to defense, you'll want a couple of Guard Towers dotted around your base, especially on the north side and a few on the south side where you can expect Chumara attacks. Do not just focus on firewarriors to house your Guard Towers as they will prove ineffective against the shielded Chumara troops. Some preachers work well too. You should even consider getting some spies in a Guard Tower or two to catch enemy spies before they do any damage. Make sure to have some trained followers patrolling your base as well as Guard Towers can't do much more than offer support against enemy attack forces.

When you get a chance, travel to every Vault of Knowledge to get all the spells they offer since they can prove quite useful.

Once a proper defense is set up you can prepare your attack force. The Matak and Dakini can be attacked by land if you prefer this method using the usual army composed of warriors, preachers and firewarriors with your Shaman to soften them up with her spells. An alternative method is to fill a couple of balloons with firewarriors and your Shaman and protect them using Magical Shield during attacks. This can be a devastating attack force. The Magical Shield spell is not always that necessary since oftentimes your enemies fail to build Firewarrior Training Huts. However, this is not always the case.

Once the Matak are eliminated make sure to pray at the Stone Head south of their base for the Angel of Death spell to use in later attacks. Follow the same strategies to destroy the Dakini and Chumara one by one and victory is yours.

Quick Way
A quick way to complete this level is to charge Landbridge from the start, building huts to give you some mana. Using landbridge you smooth the path up to the Matak plateau and quickly build a Temple on top. Convert every Matak you can then steal Flatten from their Vault of Knowledge and cut off the plateau from access from your starting settlement. The Chumara will stop attacking you but the Dakini will switch over to balloons. Build five or so Guard Towers with firewarriors on the north east part of the plateau to counter all balloon invasions. Next, worship the Stone Head to the south to get an Angel of Death. Build a Balloon Hut and some balloons so you can attack the other tribes with firewarriors and your Shaman then finish them. Note: do not allow any of your balloons to be taken over by an enemy tribe since they will use them to attack you.

Rushing the Dakini
It is possible to rush the Dakini by gathering all your starting followers and quickly heading over to their tribe while converting as many wildmen as you can without stopping. Kill their Shaman as quickly as possible with blasts to ensure that she does not convert too many wildmen. There are quite a few wildmen near their base that you can convert while instructing your braves to fight the Dakini. Once the Dakini are destroyed it will make the level a whole lot easier. Just make sure you build up quickly as by this time the Chumara will start sending a few people by boat with Magical Shield.

"I sense a new threat...an attack from the skies. I must make ready for the battle to come. "

Setting
You start off on a very large landmass in an area with very high land. Near you is a harbour with plenty of wildmen. West of the harbour is an island with a Stone Head on it. The land north of your base is low land that leads to the Matak village which has a Vault of Knowledge and a Stone Head to the east. South of the Matak base across some water is another Stone Head.

West of the Matak Reincarnation Site is a large island where the Chumara village is. There is a Vault of Knowledge semi-surrounded by a small hill to the north of this island.

| align="center" |
|-
|}

Strategy
Start building around your Reincarnation Site while your shaman converts nearby wildmen, including those near the harbour. Continue building towards the slope that faces the Matak's settlement and build a tower there. Build a Firewarrior Training Hut and use it to make a strong defense to destroy the Matak attacks.

The Chumara attack your base using balloons. You can kill these without any problems by building towers south of your base, by a small patch of land that is close to sea level where the balloons pass to attack you. Five towers with firewarriors should be more than enough to repel all attacks. Expand your base over the low land to increase your population to 199 if you need to, but you can also block off land attacks by blocking off the north entrance to your base with Landbridge.

When you're ready to attack the Matak you can either attack by using an army and target the Vault of Knowledge on the way or you can use a shaman in a balloon as shown in the Rolling Demo. It shouldn't be too hard to defeat them. Keep her away from firewarriors since they can kill her in two hits while she's in a balloon and use your spells to cause as much destruction as you can once they're charged.

Once the Matak base is destroyed, worship the Stone Heads south and east of their base, and also target the one on the island west of your base as well.

The strongest approach to eliminate the Chumara is by backdooring them from the Matak's Reincarnation Site (use Landbridge to gain access by land to their base using the small island in between the former Matak and the Chumara base). It is tricky attacking using a balloon as they have many firewarriors, and it only takes two hits to kill you, but this is definitely possible as well. Finish them off by planting a volcano in the heart of their base and killing the survivors. Another option for attacking them involves stealing some of the balloons that the Chumara use to attack you to put some firewarriors in them and casting Magical Shield on them. This makes them completely invulnerable to attacks aside from the enemy Shaman casting a spell such as Swarm nearby, and can allow you to finish the enemy easily.

Quick Way
First rush the Matak tribe using your starting braves and the braves you convert on the way. Once you have killed the Matak tribe build your own village there and charge Landbridge. Worship all the Stone Heads and the Vault of Knowledge near you for quick and offensive spells. Train up some troops, mainly preachers and warriors.

Once you have Landbridge backdoor the Chumara tribe and try your best to kill them using what you have.
Acolyte, many of my old enemies still rule over their tribes. I can aid you in the beginning of your quest but beyond that you must prove your own worth if you would sit on my right.

Setting
Your starting base is positioned on a medium sized island with a circular ridge that can be climbed running around the west side. On this ridge, there is an obelisk granting a landbridge to the Stone Head south of your base. The Stone Head grants several Tornado spells. The east part of your base closest to the Dakini settlement has an Obelisk surrounded by many trees. This Obelisk landbridges your base to the Dakini base. The Dakini base features two Guard Towers on the west side on hills followed by their base which stretches to the east on a larger island than your own.

At the beginning of the level the Shaman from the original game (now in god form) casts a wide array of dangerous spells on the Dakini base to weaken it greatly for a while.

Strategy
Begin building a base as usual which includes the training huts and as many huts as you can fit. Build your buildings close to each other due to lack of space.

As you build up your base, pray at the Obelisk on the ridge west of your base then get the Tornado spell shots from the Stone Head that you now have access too.

It is important to note that the Dakini cannot attack you until you pray at the Obelisk closest to their base since they do not have access to your island in any way. The Dakini Shaman however, who patrols in a predictable pattern around her base, will occasionally head to the west end of her base to cast some spells on your followers, including Swarm and Lightning. Have your Shaman ready to eliminate her when she approaches the southwest hill of her base.

Once you build up a large army consisting of your Shaman, warriors, preachers, and firewarriors, pray at the last Obelisk near the Dakini base and attack. Make sure you target the Dakini Shaman as soon as possible, as she will prove quite dangerous. Use your spells wisely but not too sparingly and victory should be yours.

"For the first time we must face all three Enemy tribes. I must prepare for a mighty struggle."

Setting
You are on your own island which has a lot of high elevation but not much space to build on. You have small hills around your island that are ideal for Guard Towers and south of your island is another island which is much bigger and has the Chumara and the Matak tribes on it. The Chumara tribe's village is on a peninsula with a Vault of Knowledge with the Spy Training Hut building plan on it. South of the Chumara base is another nearby island that is quite big. The Dakini settlement is here along with another Vault of Knowledge containing the Tornado spell and high land.

The southeast side of the Chumara's base features a ridge blocking a path to the Matak village, which is directly north of your own island. The Matak area is half high land and half low land. At the south end closest to your base is the Vault of Knowledge containing Erode.
| Erode
| align="center" |
|-
|}

Strategy
This level may take longer than the previous levels took due to the presence of all three enemy tribes. The first thing to do is to convert the wildmen on your island and build as many huts as you can. Build the training huts on the highest point of your island and build towers on the small hills provided.

Protect yourself until the Chumara tribe is killed off by the Dakini and Matak tribes. While that is happening you can worship the Chumara Vault of Knowledge using a boat. Keep your eye out for Chumara spies which will land periodically to sabotage your buildings. Be prepared for dangerous spells such as Erode and Tornado and try to keep enemy Shamans away from your base by killing them as quickly as possible. You can use the Landbridge spell if you wish to wall off most of your base except for the west side to ensure that the enemy can only land there. It may be helpful to also use Landbridge to cause the north end of your base to end in a sheer cliff so that the Matak cannot land there to cast Erode. A well placed Erode spell in that elevated region can be devastating for such a small settlement.

Try to steal the Tornado and Erode spells early on by sending your Shaman by boat. Make sure she has some spells such as Blast and Swarm ready to protect herself since she may be attacked. The Erode spell particularly can help keep the Chumara at bay since it can be used to sink the landbridge they will try to cast before their first land attack.

After the Chumara are dead, you can landbridge to what was the Chumara's base and extend your settlement into their base. Alternatively, you can keep your island separated to try to better protect it and rely on Landbridge spells to expand its size. You should be able to fend off the enemy attacks fairly easily as they don't attack with a huge force. Expect Dakini warriors to land occasionally in one boat to attack you, so keep some preachers around. Some of the enemy warriors may be invisible, but your preachers can convert them even in this situation.

When you're ready, gather up an army and destroy the Dakini tribe using a lot of force and spells. Once they have been finished off you can build a small base on their land for extra mana if you feel the need to. Gather up another army to attack the Matak. You can landbridge from the Dakini hill to the Matak hill for an easier approach. Make good use of the Erode and Tornado spells since they can be very devastating to the enemy base.

You can then win by finishing off the Matak with all your troops. Another way to do this is to backdoor them from your Reincarnation Site.

Strategy
A good way to start is to begin building a few huts and convert some wildmen. Build three towers along the shore and then build another tower on the hill next to your Reincarnation Site. Build your training huts on the hill and train several firewarriors.

Place some patroling warriors and preachers to block paths from your base pointing to the Matak village. This should help defend from Matak attacks and your towers should kill the Chumara Shaman before she can do much damage. When the Chumara landbridge to the southwest island add some defense close to that island so that you are prepared for them later.

Whenever you're ready, gather up an army to attack the Matak. DO NOT use defending followers, keep them in place. Head over to the Matak settlement and destroy as much as you can. Your base defense should be able to handle attacks from the Chumara without your supervision. Kill the Matak tribe and collect the Swamp spell from their Vault of Knowledge. Now send some braves to expand your base using the extra land you have gained.

When you are ready to attack the Chumara, gather up an army and send them to what was the Matak settlement. Use your shaman and backdoor the Chumara using landbridge. If your shaman dies during your attack, landbridge from your Reincarnation Site to the Chumara island as a quicker route and bring some reinforcements. You should be able to finish off the Chumara and collect Hypnotise for your own use.

Quick Way
# Immediately convert the wildmen closest to the Reincarnation Site and then start walking together with all braves towards the Matak base. Switch off all your spells except convert.
# As you progress towards the Matak base, convert groups of wildmen as your convert spell shots become available, and continue with all your converted followers towards the Matak Guard Tower - don't wait, don't stop, and don't start building anything. By the time you reach the Matak area you should have 25-30 braves.
# When you reach the Matak Guard Tower which will probably not be completed yet attack the few enemy braves and the single hut they have probably managed to build by now with 20 or so braves and send the rest to attack the enemy shaman. She won't yet have sufficient power to defend herself, so it's a one sided battle. Whilst your braves are fighting, wander around the Matak peninsular, converting a few wildmen, and get them to immediately start building a tower close to the Matak Reincarnation Site.
# By this time the Matak tribe should be finished, so slam down a few plans for a Warrior Training Hut, Temple and a Firewarrior Training Hut by your new Guard Tower, and get your braves to build them whilst you use a few more convert spells to raise your follower count to about 50/55 braves - there are lots of groups of wildmen in the Matak's ex-peninsular (a good idea is to put down more building plans than you need as if your braves are busy building so they aren't tempted to wander back to your Reincarnation Site - keep them in the area).
# When you have enough braves (50-55) switch off the Convert spell and start charging landbridges, casting them on the coast line opposite to where the Chumara tribe are building a Boat Hut (you'll probably need to cast 4-5 of them 'parallel' to the shore to slowly edge towards the Chumara's island before you get close enough to cast a final one to reach them).
# Just before you're ready to cast the final land bridge collect all your troops next to you, ready for the assault (you should have about 5 priests, warriors and firewarriors, and about 40 braves).
# Now for the coup de grace - send 5 braves to destroy each Chumara hut and then send your firewarriors to dispatch the Chumara shaman. Use 2-3 warriors to attack the Guard Tower in the centre and 2-3 to rip down the Chumara Temple (which should only just have been completed). Send a couple of priests to the Chumara Firewarrior Training Hut, and use the others to support your Warriors.
# As your braves destroy the huts send them to support any 'problems'. Your shaman can sit back and watch - she shouldn't need to intervene.

The level can be completed in at least 7 minutes.
This is the tenth level in Populous The Beginning, where you face the Matak tribe on the second timed level. It is the only level in Single Player to use the Atlantis effect.

Starting Speech
"I have had a terrible vision with scenes of death and destruction as our settlement sank into the sea! I must move swiftly if I am to save my tribe and wreak revenge upon our Enemies."

Setting
You start off on a small beach with several huts and followers. Next to you is a large, elevated region with the Matak village on it. North of all this is a very small island with a Totem Pole, a Matak Guard Tower with a preacher inside and a few warriors on it. West of that is an underwater island that rises once the Totem Pole has been worshipped.
| align="center" | 2
|-
|}

Strategy
First, send your Shaman, two braves, one warrior and one preacher into the boat. Then quickly build as many boats as you can with your braves to carry the other followers if you can, though this is not necessary to complete this level. When your base has sunk, head off to the Matak Guard Tower next to the Totem Pole. Kill the enemy followers and worship the Totem Pole. You may wish to wait before praying at it to charge some spells if you're not in a rush since you will be safe at this time.

Wait for the island to rise then send your braves to fix the buildings. Build a couple more boats and train a group of preachers and warriors. Send them all in your boats, make sure you charge a few spells while you're waiting. Sail to the beach on the Matak island where there are two towers eirther side and unload your warriors. Send a couple of warriors each side then unload everyone else. Attack the base and send your shaman to worship the Totem Pole. After you worship it the other half of the Matak base will sink and then you can kill all the survivors.

Different Strategy
First, immediately send all of your people to the very edge of the island nearest to the boat (when the Matak queen will erode your land, it will not reach to your men). Then, send your Shaman, three warriors, and one preacher to the boat. Then sail to the big Matak island. De-activate the Convert spell to give more mana to the Blast spell. Have your warriors jump out and kill the firewarriors. If not all are killed, destroy the survivors by using blast. Send your shaman to the Matak Shaman's tower. Have her smack out the Matak Shaman, then cast the blast spell to push her down the mountain to the sea to kill her. Send your preacher to convert the braves and warriors supposedly guarding the Totem Pole bearing the Erode spell (the totem pole is not there yet). Once they are converted, have one follower go back to the boat and fetch at least one preacher. Sail back to the Matak island and have the preacher jump out and convert more followers. But there is an enemy preacher inside a tower. Have your Shaman attack and kill him to protect your preacher from being disturbed. Once the whole Matak island is cleared of enemies, make sure all Matak huts are damaged or destroyed to stop them from breeding braves. Send your shaman to the boat. Then, it's time to destroy the Matak warriors and preacher at the Totem Pole island. Sail there. Before your Shaman jumps out, blast the warriors into the sea to destroy them. Then command your shaman to jump out and attack the preacher inside the tower. You don't have to blast him to kill him. The Shaman can just kick and punch him to kill him and win the game (No follower can defeat a Shaman in hand-to-hand combat one-on-one except the warrior).

Rushing
As soon as the game starts send every man into a hut and charge Lightning. By the time it's charged you should have half of your base still. Cast it on the Matak tower and you will have saved your base.

Walkthrough
Introduction
This is the first world with Fog of War. The Fog will cover most of the planet until you
send followers to explore that area. After that, the Fog is
lifted and you will be able to see whatever is going in the areas that you
have explored. This means if you scout out enough of the land away from your
settlement you’ll be able to see raiding parties before they get to you, just
like in other maps. The downside is that you can’t see what’s going on in
areas you haven’t explored, like the enemy settlement. The composition of the
Chumara settlement and how their followers are moving will be unknown to you
until you attack. You will be able to see the shape of the land on the map
screen wherever the Fog is in place, just not the people and objects on that
land. You will also be able to see black squares on the world view where
there are buildings underneath the Fog, so you can get a general idea of how
the enemy’s buildings are laid out.

Strategy
The land on this planet takes the form of a long strip running south-
southwest and north-northeast. Your tribe starts at one end of the strip, and
the Chumara at the other end. Because the strip of land wraps itself around
the entire planet, the Chumara settlement is actually to the southwest of your
settlement, but unless you take a shortcut by boat or Landbridge you’ll have
to trek all the way across the planet to get to them.

Begin as usual with building huts and Converting Wildmen. Grab three
Braves and have them follow your Shaman while she scouts out through the [[Fog
of War]] looking for more Wildmen. You’ll find the Tornado Stone Head southwest
of your settlement near the coast in the Fog surrounded by trees. Even if you can’t see it,
you’ll be able to hear it when you get close to it on the map screen. After getting
the spell, continue south and you’ll find the Earthquake Stone Head at
the top of a high hill leading towards the Chumara settlement.

The Totem Pole across the water will open a Landbridge between the Chumara
section and yours, and the Chumara worship it almost immediately after the
level begins. There’s really nothing you can do to stop them, so just build
up your settlement and place your defenses where they seem appropriate. The first Chumara attack will be by land with the Shaman attacking with a few followers from the south. A well placed Lightning spell can eliminate the attackers and some warriors and preachers can be of use if your spells fail.
Because the enemy now has boats, and they will use them, you have to change
your defensive strategy after the first attack. They will raid your settlement with a few boatloads
of followers from that point, but well placed Preachers near your Reincarnation Site should
keep them from doing too much damage. The real threat in this level is the
Chumara Shaman, who can use both Tornado and Volcano. A solution is to
establish a perimeter of Guard Towers around the north, northwest and northeast parts of your settlement and staff them
with Firewarriors. Place the Towers so the firing ranges of the Firewarriors
overlap. When a boat come by, your sentries will attack, and as they move out
of range of one Tower, they’ll come into range of another. This way you
can knock out the enemy from their boats and kill them before they even step
foot on your settlement. Be sure to have Preachers and Warriors nearby in
case a few do make a landing.

Once you kill a raiding party from a boat, you can now steal the Chumara’s
boats. Just order one or more of your followers to enter the boat and it’ll be yours, at least until the enemy
finds it empty and takes it back. Be warned, unattended boats will sink after
a while, though boats with at least one follower in them do not sink.

Once you have a boat, put your Shaman in it and head for the small island
with the Volcano Stone Head. At the start of the level there will be plenty
of Wildmen here to Convert, but if you get here later they may have all died
off, so take some Braves with you to worship the Stone Head. The Chumara will
send a party to attack your worshippers if you wait too long, so be prepared for that possibility.

Once you have Volcano and a boat, you can head over to the Chumara
settlement to destroy it. You can also grab the Boat Hut from the Vault of Knowledge at the southern tip of their settlement. A well placed Volcano, along with Tornado and Earthquake can severely damage
the Chumara, allowing you to take your army and wipe them out. Because of
the Fog of War and the fact that they like to stick Braves in boats, you may
have a little difficulty hunting down the last follower to end the level, but
keep looking and he’ll be found. Keep your followers away when you cast Volcano because even though the effects do not harm your Shaman, the volcano will harm your followers.
Setting
You face the Dakini tribe again on a planet made up of mostly land and some rivers. Your base is surrounded by a curved hill with an open passageway to the Dakini hill to the north. An entrance also exists to the east. The Dakini start with several warriors that help guard the hill on which they will build towers on.
| align="center" | 4
|-
|}

Strategy
Use your shaman to convert wildmen to help build your village. Southeast of your Reincarnation Site is a Stone Head that you can worship to grant yourself Magical Shield. Make a defense using the hills to fight off enemy attacks. You should also send your shaman to worship Vault of Knowledge so that you can use firewarriors but do not attempt this until the enemy are distracted or she will be destroyed easily by nearby defenders.

Prepare a big army. You can attack two different ways. One way is to attack the hill and the second is to use the back of the Dakini base to your advantage. It shouldn't be too hard to kill the enemy. Make use of the Stone Head north of the Dakini base for the Tornado spell if you feel the need to, but do not fully worship it until you've used the spell at least once or one of your spell uses will go to waste.

Rushing
You can rush by converting wildmen and building a Warrior Training Hut. Then train several warriors and send them and your shaman to finish off the enemy. Send reinforcements if you need to. This tactic can also be applied with a Temple by training preachers instead to convert the enemy troops.

This is the seventh level in Populous The Beginning where you gain the Invisibility spell. This level is also very similar to the Multiplayer level Eye of the Storm.

Starting Speech
"The Chumara will use the spell of Invisibility to attack us. Once again, I sense a Stone Head that contains a prize: the spell of Erode! Then, I will seize the power of Invisibility from their Vault of Knowledge."

Setting
You start on a large kidney-shaped island with an outlet of land which leads to your Reincarnation Site. Parallel to your island is a similar island that belongs to the Chumara tribe. There are two easy paths that can connect the islands using one Landbridge spell on either end of the islands. In the centre there is a small island with a Stone Head on it which can also be used to connect the islands with two Landbridge spells.

| Invisibility
| align="center" |
|-
|}

Strategy
Start by sending your braves to the middle of the island and start building a Guard Tower. On your way, convert groups of wildmen and command them to build some huts. Expand your settlement and train several preachers. Send them over to both ends of the island so that they can convert some enemy troops.

When the Chumara Shaman connects to your island follow the footprints to track the hidden enemy preachers that are heading to your base. Once you have found them, kill them. Continue the level as normal, and when you're ready to kill them train up to 10 preachers and 10 warriors. Kill their shaman first with Lightning and then send your army to destroy their settlement. Later in the game they will cast Landbridge on the far east side of the island too, so watch out.

Both Shamans have their Circles of Reincarnation at the end of a long peninsula. If you are having trouble, worship the Stone Head and use Erode to cut off the enemy CoR from the mainland. This will put the Chumara Shaman out of the fight permanently. Don't however Erode the CoR itself because reincarnation will bring it back above water.

Another useful tip if you're having trouble with enemy attacks is to prevent the enemy Shaman from casting any Landbridge spells in the first place by using the Lightning spell on her quickly right before she reaches one of the ends of her island to use her spell. The two Erode spells can also be useful to erode the ends of the enemy island at the sites where the Chumara Shaman must stand to connect her island to yours. This can prevent her from being able to get close enough to bridge the two islands together giving you as much time as you need to prepare for an assault.

Lastly, attacking by using two Landbridges and the island with the Stone Head on it to connect directly to the Chumara base can save you time and troops by letting you attack the heart of the enemy directly and bypassing some defenses.

Quick Way
The level can be completed in at least six minutes. First send your braves to build a Guard Tower in reach of the other island that is closest to your Reincarnation Site. Build a temple while your shaman converts wildmen, and make sure you charge Landbridge. Once you have built your temple train several preachers and build a couple of huts. When you have Landbridge cast it to the Chumara island and send your preachers to their base. They should not have any of their own preachers yet. Use your shaman to blast the enemy braves or the shaman around too.
Building Bridges is the sixth level in Populous Single Player and is the first level where you face two tribes at once. This level is very similar to Linked Isles which is the Multiplayer version which has additional obelisks and connected land. This level is used a lot for practicing building techniques such as Harvesting and Hut Dismantling.

Starting Speech
"For the first time we must face two tribes: the Chumara and the Matak. Perhaps I can use them against each other. I sense a Totem Pole may be useful in bringing them into conflict."

Setting
Building Bridges is on one of the largest Single Player maps and it is said to be ideal for practicing building and harvesting due to its large open areas with trees spread out everywhere. This level also contains more wildmen than any other level.

You start on a huge island shared with the Chumara tribe. There is a lot of elevation and wildmen on the land. You have a Vault of Knowledge close to your Reincarnation Site and a Stone Head hidden in a circular hill.

Next to the island is a smaller one with the Matak tribe settled on it. They guard another Vault of Knowledge and a Stone Head. There is another Stone Head on the Matak island closer to your base.

Next to the land closest to you is a tiny island with a Totem Pole on it guarded by a Chumara warrior.

|-
| align="center" | 3
| align="center" | 1
|-
| Stone Head
| align="center" | 1
| Firestorm
| align="center" | 1
|-
| align="center" |
| Landbridge
| align="center" | 1
|-
| Vault of Knowledge
| align="center" |
| Convert
| align="center" |
|-
| Vault of Knowledge
| align="center" |
| Landbridge
| align="center" |
|-
|}

Strategy
First use your shaman to worship the nearby Vault of Knowledge then build a large base with many huts. When you have Convert use it on all the wildmen north of your base. Quickly set up a small defense of patrolling warriors and a couple of preachers in each passage way into your base. You can worship the nearby Stone Head if you wish. Two Guard Towers, one beside the central entrance way from the north and one beside the eastern entrance to your base can be useful for your shaman.

It won't be long before the Matak shaman connects to you using Landbridge and then does their first attack. You can kill them easily if your Shaman is positioned in the eastern Guard Tower by using Lightning on the group right after the Matak Shaman casts Landbridge. Once they're destroyed, worship the Stone Head closest to you on the Matak island. This will grant you the Hypnotise spell which you can use on the Chumara warrior next to the Totem Pole. When he is converted temporarily to your side, command him to worship the Totem Pole. This will erode the tiny island that he is on and will connect the north part of the Matak island to the Chumara base, allowing them to fight each other. Do not depend on them attacking each other too much though as they will still remember to attack you as well with more focused attacks. The Matak will attack quite often while the Chumara attack far more rarely. Both tribes rely on their Shaman as part of their attacks.

When you have some spare braves, round up an army and destroy the Matak settlement. Worship the Vault of Knowledge and the Stone Head on the hill to get Landbridge and Firestorm. When you have finished the tribe off, head to the Chumara tribe with reinforcements and send your Shaman to the top of the hill. From there she can cast Firestorm over the Chumara village and other useful spells. Destroy what's left of the camp with your warriors and preachers.
This is the fifth level in Populous The Beginning and the first timed level. This is the only Single Player level to contain a Gargoyle which is linked to a multiple Angel of Death effect.
Setting
The player starts with the Shaman and four Warriors on an island with a Stone Head, a Totem Pole and a Guard Tower. Just north of the island is a very small island with many Wildmen and a Totem Pole.

West of the Totem Pole on the starting island is another island with two blue training huts, a Stone Head and a Totem Pole. The Totem Pole is by a much bigger island with a Dakini village on it that is protecting a Gargoyle.

When the timer reaches zero, the Dakini Shaman will worship the Gargoyle causing the player to lose the level.

Strategy
The most common strategy is to send the Shaman to the Guard Tower and one Warrior to the Stone Head. When some Convert spells are ready, convert a few Wildmen on the small island and command them to worship the Totem Pole. A boat will appear where a brave should be sent to pick up the Shaman and three Warriors. Train one Brave and one Warrior into two Preachers using the Temple on the other island. Send them back into the boat and travel around the island with the Dakini village on it until you arrive at the Dakini Warrior Training Hut.

Distract the nearby enemy followers with Swarm then use your followers to guard the Shaman while she worships the Gargoyle. It does not take long to worship it, and once it has been worshipped you can watch the Angel of Death group kill the Dakini Shaman, causing you to win the level.
This is the forth level in Populous The Beginning and the first level where the enemy attacks with an army and Shaman. Three parts of this level are shown in the Rolling Demo. Also, a modified version is present in the demo called Eye of the Storm which has two Vaults of Knowledge: one Lightning, one Tornado and a Stone Head with Firestorm.

Starting Speech
Setting
This is the fourth level in Populous, where the Matak tribe is faced for the second time in Single Player. The player starts on a large island shared with the Matak tribe. There is an attached circle of land which has a Vault of Knowledge on it and further away, a Stone Head giving the player some uses of the Convert spell.

Through the hills is a Vault of Knowledge guarded by several warriors. Beyond it are two passages to the Matak settlement.
Strategy
Send the Shaman to the Vault of Knowledge to claim the Guard Tower building plan as well as a brave to worship the nearby Stone Head. Once the Guard Tower is available, build it in the middle of the land north of the Reincarnation Site followed by some huts around it. The enemy Shaman will come with small groups of followers to strike the player's settlement with Lightning.

The Warriors guarding the Vault of Knowledge can be converted with Preachers to make it easier to worship it with the Shaman. Once the spell is available, send an army to destroy the Matak settlement.

Rushing
It is possible to rush by gathering all starting followers to rush the enemy. Try to stop them from building training huts for winning to be easier.
"I have had a disturbing vision. The Chumara Tribe turned my own Followers against me when I attacked! I must find a way to reach their Vault of Knowledge and learn how to use this power against them."

Setting
This is the third level in Populous, where you face the Chumara tribe for the first time in Single Player. You start on a large tropical island separated from the Chumara tribe by huge hills. The Totem Pole casts an Erode spell on the far end of the mountain making a safe path to the Vault of Knowledge which gives you access to the Temple building.
|}

Strategy
you

A basic strategy is to send the shaman to the Totem Pole which lowers the mountain for her to pass through and worship the Vault of Knowledge. Meanwhile, build as many huts as possible as well as a Warrior Training Hut. When the Temple plan is available build it and make an army of several preachers and warriors. Attack the enemy tribe using the army and use Blast to kill the enemy shaman.

This level can easily be completed without Preachers. Build about 5 Huts and a Warrior Training Hut and train about 5-7 Warriors and send them to the enemy base along with the Shaman. Blast the Preacher guarding the base to kill it, then kill the enemy Shaman, destroy the Temple and kill the rest of the Braves.

Rushing
It is possible to rush by gathering all your starting followers, and rush the enemy.
Kill their shaman as quickly as possible with blasts to ensure she does not convert too many wildmen. You should achieve instant victory with no building required.
This is the second level in Populous where you face the Matak tribe for the first time in Single Player.

Starting Speech
"Now we must face the Matak Tribe. I sense many Warriors ready to stand against us. In my vision we are aided by magic from a Stone Head. There must be a way to reach it..."

Geography
The level consists of one large island with the player on the east side and the Matak on the west side. There is a hill separating the two sides of the island with an entrance on both sides, with a small lake in the centre. It is possible to reach the top of the hill from the Matak side. There is also a small patch of land off to the side of the starting settlement with a Stone Head containing the Tornado spell, which has three uses. The Totem Pole in the small valley between the two tribes will activate a Landbridge so the player can access the Stone Head. The Vault of Knowledge is halfway in the Matak settlement and is slightly guarded. The Matak begin with their entire settlement complete, bar the Shaman's Guard Tower. You begin with one empty Large Hut.

Strategy
Begin by building a couple more huts and a Warrior Training Hut whilst your Shaman worships the Totem Pole. There is a Guard Tower with a Warrior inside so try not to stray too close, or reinforcements will be called from the nearby hut. The Totem Pole will open up a passage to the Stone Head. Haul two braves off from construction and obtain the three Tornado spells. Build up your settlement and get around 10 Warriors. Once you have them, begin your attack. Destroy the Guard Tower with your forces and not with your Tornado spells. Most of the Matak forces will attack you but some will stay on the other end of the settlement to continue guarding the Shaman's Guard Tower. When the forces are gone, destroy the other hut then obtain the Swarm spell from the Vault of Knowledge. Destroy the two nearby huts with the Tornado spells. Once you get the Swarm spell, head to the Shaman's Guard Tower. Make sure your forces don't get too close or the Shaman will cast Swarm on them.
Cast your own Swarm on the patrolling Warriors and Blast any that get too close. Then, use your final Tornado spell on the Shaman's Guard Tower. Hopefully, she will get thrown in the water to drown. Hunt down the last few Matak followers and the level will be complete.

This is the first level featured in the single player campaign Populous: The Beginning and its demo version.

Starting Speech
"I have created my Reincarnation Site and the settlement is nearly complete. Now we must destroy the Dakini tribe!"

Geography
The world is one of the smallest worlds in existence and consists of three islands. The player gets the largest island, which is also the southern island. This island contains one Stone Head, which has unlimited uses of Landbridge, as well as two Small Huts. The middle island is the second largest of the three and has another Stone Head, this time containing four uses of Lightning. These can be used to quickly end the level if the player chooses to. Also, the Vault of Knowledge containing the Warrior Training Hut is guarded by a lone Brave. Finally, the northern island contains the small Dakini settlement of one Large Hut and a Warrior Training Hut.

Strategy
The player begins with six braves, but two are spawned soon after. Two more huts can be constructed to fill up the space, whilst the Shaman (or even a brave) worships the Landbridge Stone Head. Two uses are needed, though others can be used to expand the settlement. Cast one spell to the central island and cast a Blast spell on the Dakini Brave. He should be killed upon hitting the ground. Whilst the Shaman worships the Vault of Knowledge, a Brave can worship the Stone Head which contains the powerful Lightning spell. Once both the spells and the training hut have been obtained, a final Landbridge can be cast to the Dakini settlement. Take note that in doing so, the Stone Head on the starting island will sink into the ground.
From here, the player has a choice. The player may wish to end the level with four well placed Lightning spells, or a Warrior Training Hut can be built, where the player can train 5 warriors to destroy the Dakini with. Be warned that the Dakini Shaman may blast your forces into the water, so killing her with Lightning is advised.

| align="center" | 1
|-
| Stone Head
| align="center" | 4
| align="center" |
|-
|}

Quick Way
This level can be completed in around a minute if you are quick enough. Begin by getting two Landbridge spells, then connect all three islands together. Get the four uses of Lightning then cast one on the clump of Braves outside the Large Hut. This will kill them all and the followers inside the hut will go to guard the Shaman. Cast Lightning on her and you should kill the followers guarding her. Cast Blast on the Warrior and you should end the level.
