Braves are the workforce of your tribe; they will build, repair and upgrade constructions, collect wood, generate the most [[mana]], train as [[preacher]]s, [[warrior]]s, [[firewarrior]]s, [[spies]], build [[boat]]s and build [[balloon]]s. They are poor fighters and twenty can easily be wiped out by two or three [[warrior]]s and must attack in numbers if they wish to overwhelem a [[shaman]]. Braves can be gained either through breeding or [[convert]]ing [[wildmen]] using the [[Convert]] spell.

It is a good idea to keep a number of braves in your village to keep it in order and to provide reinforcements if needed.

Never keep braves idle as idle braves will not generate the [[mana]] you will be expecting to make so make sure they are doing something even if they are just walking in circles.

Braves generate the most mana when they are in [[hut|large huts]], then [[hut|medium huts]] and then doing anything else. This means that braves in [[hut|small huts]] still generate the same [[mana]] as they would doing something outside of it.

[[Image:b_shamanstand.gif]]In [[Populous]]: [[The Beginning]] you play the [[Shaman]], guiding her to the ultimate goal of becoming a deity and gaining god-like omnipotence. If you are killed you will reincarnate at the [[Reincarnation Site]], but only if you have other [[Followers]] converted to your faith. If you do not have any [[Followers]] on the [[World]], you will die and lose the game. The [[Shaman]] will not perform menial tasks. Instead, she is skilled in magic allowing her to cast the [[Spells]] available on the [[Spells]] Panel. To cast one of these [[Spells]], you have to walk to within range of the target. Each spell has a different range. When you select a spell from the [[Spells]] Panel, a mystical force will surround the [[Shaman]] indicating the boundaries of the spell's range. You can then left-click within the range to cast the spell. You can also command your [[Followers]] to guard the [[Shaman]]. Select some of your [[Followers]] and press g. Those [[Followers]] will then run to the [[Shaman]] and surround her, attacking any Enemy who tries to reach her. To stop them guarding, deselect any [[Followers]] and press g again. When a [[Shaman]] dies, a quarter of her [[Mana]] will be taken from her and given to the tribe who killed her. [[Image:r_warriorpush.gif]]Warriors are the main attack force of your tribe. Much stronger than braves, they are a lot better for fighting and knocking down buildings. However, they cannot perform menial tasks like chopping wood or building. They are also vulnerable to [[Preacher]]s who can convert them to the enemy tribe. ==Tactics==

* Warriors are strong against a small group of [[firewarrior]]s. If each warrir is assigned to attack each [[firewarrior]] that is on guard, the warriors have a good chance at winning.

* Using one or two warriors with [[Magical Shield]] and or with [[Invisibility]] they can sneakly attack the enemy [[shaman]] for quick un-noticed mana!

[[Image:b_firewarriorpray.gif]][[Firewarrior]]s are created by training [[Brave]]s or any other Follower in the [[Firewarrior Training Hut]]. These [[Followers]] are slower and weaker in hand to hand combat than [[Warrior]]s. They do, however, have the ability to cast the [[Blast]] spell and they can target buildings or the Enemy [[Followers]] from a distance. Like [[Warrior]]s, they will not perform any menial tasks, such as construction, and are best suited to Guarding or Fighting. Give them an advantage by placing them on hills or in [[tower]]s, [[balloon]]s or [[boat]]s.

Firewarriors can be stronger if in groups and all fire at the same time. This can be done by moving them closer to the target and then blasting the target at a close distance. This is used as a more riskier, but more succussful way of killing the enemy [[shaman]].[[Image:b_firewarriorpray.gif]]

Spy

[[Image:g_spyfire.gif]]The [[Spy]] is not often used in [[Multiplayer]] Levels because of it's apparent uselessnes and cheapness. The best bet to see these [[Followers]] are after the Level [[An Easy Target]] when the [[Spy Training Hut]] is invented by the Chumaran Tribe, your next door neighbors in this [[Single Player]] Game.

The forground of the attached picture shows the Blue [[Tribes]] [[Spy Training Hut]], 4 [[Followers]], of the [[Spy]] Grade. They are distingished to the player as [[Followers]] in black jackets, pants and the accompanying color. To the enemy, they are seen as [[Brave]]s. There main claim to fame is the ability for them to disguise as an enemy follower, sneak into an enemies base and light [[Hut]]s or trees on fire.

To disguise simply select one [[Spy]], or multiple spies, and click an enemy [[Tribes]] color on the left panel to the right of the shamen shortcut icon. The icon switches to a masking button and one simply right clicks and the spies middle color slowly changes to the selected enemy [[Tribes]] color. You can only tell your [[Spy]] (or spies) to light trees and enemy [[Hut]]s on fire, not your own. Simply select a [[Spy]] or spies, and approach a tree and left-click to set it ablaze. For enemy [[Hut]]s, do the same procedure, approach a [[Hut]], whilst disguised, and set it ablaze. If one is not disguised when attempting to set an enemy [[Hut]]s ablaze, they well be quickly attacked.

The spies strength is the lowest of all units, 1 [[Brave]] can easily kill a [[Spy]], bare handed in less than 6 seconds whilst leaving the [[Brave]] just at ¾ health. It apprx. takes 3 spies to kill just one [[Brave]].

The [[Spy]] lurking in ones base can be uncovered by simply finding one and left clicking them. Another tactic is to set a [[Spy]] in a [[Hut]] and lets them uncover spies attempting to gain entrance to ones base. If you put a [[Spy]] in a [[Tower]], there range is increased further, and they uncover spies at a greater distance.[[Image:g_spyfire.gif]]

==Chaos Attack==

Simply select a group of six spies and assign three too attack one side of an entrance, and another three to another side of an entrance, or divy up them by two, and make 2-2-2 to attack an enemies base. Simply bookmark each new unit and start assigning each to set ablaze [[Hut]]s Burn multiple [[Hut]]s (Ctrl and left click three [[Hut]]s) for the 1st group, five [[Hut]]s for the 2nd and three [[Hut]]s for the 3rd group, then further this by assigning each ones to attack seprate [[Hut]]s.

==Multiple Burns==

You can select multiple [[Hut]]s for your spies to burn by holding ctrl then clicking each [[Hut]]. You may see the AI keep burning the same [[Hut]], but you cannot burn a damaged [[Hut]] to your point of view. So multiple select the same [[Hut]] again to keep burning it even when it's damaged.
