Balloons are a result of what we call "cheap" forms of transport, but as was stated in a predeccesor to this article, they cost more than 53 Volcanoes, and are the "French Resistance's" response to cheap carrier Pigeons. One is enough to kill off 3 tribes. And if you look closely, they make Beer.

Balloons are a form of transportation in Populous. They are more effective than boats in traveling and take less wood stocks but they can only support 2 units.

Uses for a Balloon

  • It is very useful if your shaman is in a balloon as she can move faster and has a larger spell range.
  • It supports all units of your tribe.
  • Enemy balloons can be captured by any follower.
  • Units can also travel above water with balloons.
  • Spies can change their balloon colour so it looks like your enemy's balloons.
