Anyone can submit a custom made level (map) or a mappack.

Levels will appear as test maps on the matchmaker (and will be unranked); Mappacks will go through an evaluation and approval process, which might take weeks - a mappack administrator will take the mappack and look into it, before approving or rejecting it.

Uploading Single Maps

  • To upload a single map (which will show under "test maps", upon refreshing), the user must have the level files ready: this usually include a .dat and a .hdr file.
  • The second step is to hit the PopRe page --> Downloads --> Submit. It will take the user here.
  • On the category, the user should select, on this case, single map. A title is required, the description is optional, just like added comments. Now, the .dat file for the level to submit must be attached. Optional files (such as .hdr or .constant; lua script or pop script files can be attached). For the most cases, .dat and .hdr is what will be needed.
  • After attaching and filling the title, the user should press submit. It can take several seconds. When uploaded, the user shall receive a message of success, or a message or rejection (and the reason).
  • If succeeded, the map is now available to play on the matchmaker, under test maps. It should be the first on the line, after the user hits the refresh button.

Notes:

  • Anyone can see user submitted maps here. It's also handy to check for map IDs.
  • The user can remove his unwanted test maps.
  • All test maps will be unranked, even if the unranked option is not ticked.
  • Attaching scripts (popscript or LUA) to maps only work under BETA version.
  • Some features will not work on the normal multiplayer version, such as vaults of knowledge, triggers that create units, etc...
  • The level can be submitted with custom textures or other .dat files.

Uploading a Mappack

  • To upload a mappack, the user must have the level files ready: this usually include some levels (.dat and .hdr for each level) and a mappack.txt file (with the pack description and extraction rules). Other files such as textures (or any data files), and/or constant files can also be attached. Script files can also be attached, but will only work under the BETA version. All the files should go inside a zip, to be attached on the submit page.
  • The mappack.txt file should look something like this:

PACKNAME: Map Pack Name

PACKVERSION: v3.0 (or any version)

PACKCREATOR: Your Nickname

PACKDESC: Mappack description

LEVEL: 0                            (this is a level, the first one on the pack)

NAME: Level Name

DAT: LevelName.dat

HDR: LevelName.hdr

CREATOR: Your Nickname

DESC:

LEVEL: 1

NAME: Level Name

DAT: LevelName.dat

HDR: LevelName.hdr

CREATOR: Your Nickname

DESC:

LEVEL: 2

NAME: Level Name

DAT: LevelName.dat

HDR: LevelName.hdr

CREATOR: Your Nickname

DESC:

LEVEL: 3

NAME: Level Name

DAT: LevelName.dat

HDR: LevelName.hdr

CREATOR: Your Nickname

DESC:

EXTRASRC: sky0-3.dat                 (this is a .dat file for a texture)

EXTRADST: data\sky0-3.dat

EXTRASRC: al0-1.dat

EXTRADST: data\al0-1.dat

(this is only an example on how the text works. The mappack should usually have more than 4 levels)

  • As the mappack zip is finished, the player should hit the PopRe page --> Downloads --> Submit. It will take the userhere.
  • On the category, the user should select, on this case, map pack. The user should now proceed to attach the zip file, and wait some seconds (or minutes), until it is submitted.
  • When uploaded, the user shall receive a message of success, or a message or rejection (and the reason(s)). Some alert reasons can be intentional, so it is still possible to continue the submission with them included.
  • After uploaded, a mappack administrator will check it. This process can take up to some weeks.

Notes:

  • All the levels on the mappack should be uploaded as individual test maps, and tested on the matchmaker for at least 10 minutes each.
  • Another guide can be looked here
  • Anyone can see user submitted mappacks here.
  • The user can specify the mappack to be unranked. Arena levels or unfair/unorthodox mappacks might become unranked by default, if the mappack checker decides so.
  • Mappacks with AI, using scripts (popscript or LUA), will only work under BETA version.
  • Some features will not work on the normal multiplayer version, such as vaults of knowledge, triggers that create units, etc...
