The Populous Sprite Editor is a freeware utility created by TedTycoon that displays and edits sprite files used in Populous. You can load any sprite file and use the colours from any populous palette that you specify. You can then browse through the sprites and export or import them as 256 colour bitmaps. The program will then recreate the whole sprite file with the changes the user makes.
History
The tool was created in summer 2007. Although there was no public editor available for editing sprites there was a sprite extractor which could display them. An editor was made to import new sprites and replace the old ones. After the Sprite Editor was released it was updated shortly to fix a few release errors.
The lastest version of the Sprite Editor can be found at its official site.[1]
