The swamp spell will kill any follower that walks into it. After 10 follower deaths, it will disappear. You can delete your own swamps at any time by Shift + Right Clicking on it. Ghosts will not fill up a Swamp however they can be gotten rid off if more than 50% of them is touched by lava, or if more than 50% is sunken into the water.
