This spell can flatten any rugged land or even make more land near a coast (or delete it if you're not careful enough). What you can do with flatten and landbridge spells is the fusion trick. Fusion trick is great for devastating buildings, setting up massive high-land defences.
Tactics
Fusion trick
The trick is a combo using one or more landbriges to a low ground near a hill, then lifting your shaman up the hill with flatten, or using landbridge(s) on high land (from high land) then flatten your shaman down, to lower the ground.
